I had this same rant a few months back. Fecking emos. When-ever I see one in the city proudly showing off their 'wounds' I just want to walk up to them and slap them.
As for 'cutting' and bragging about injuries, back when I was in college a friend showed me a picture of a gun he had carved into his leg. I didn't quite get why he'd want to show me that he'd done it (twas in the middle of drama class....) or even WHY he'd done it but as the emo culture took off over the past couple of years I have a little bit more of an understanding. I still don't like it though.
This is a really, really good post. Thankyou for posting this. You put into words heaps of the stuff I always thought but couldn't quite articulate. Your list of reasons is true and worded very pratically.
