No! Silly, brilliant Hermione. I think it's that he doesn't believe in himself. Well this explained a lot. Now Hermione just needs to forgive him for his noble-prat-ness.

Well done :)

You have a very good point. I tend to think it's more that he doesn't believe that others value him ... and for a very long time they only valued him for what he could do for them ... not for himself. Hermione's a completely unexpected variable.

Thank you for reading and enjoying the little series. I do appreciate your comments.

True ... but I hope to have captured a tiny bit of realism in them/him.

Thank you for continuing to read.

Why do men have a tendency to think for the others, namely, women?

Because they're trying to 'do the right thing' or 'what's best' or, in this case, he was protecting his heart. Silly wizard!

I'm delighted you're still reading! Thank you.

Greetings!

Well, well done!!! More, please??? Soon???

Beautifully done! A wondrous way to explore the hidden depths.... I've been noticing more and more in the series that the past is being played out in the present... leads to some wonderful tale-spinning....

There is another one which I posted today, and there will be another tomorrow ... until we reach all twelve!

Thanks again for reading.

For so long, my existence was precarious … I didn’t hope for exoneration. I thought you’d decide I was a transient phase.”

Ah, silly Snape. Funny how we see him as noble that way despite his surface unpleasantness. But there's also obviously in his character a mile-wide streak of insecurity. I could see him also not asking just because its easy for him to see her saying no--not asking protects his heart--just as the barbed sarcasm can.

I definitely see him as being less noble and more terrified that she'd turn him down. So he didn't ask, and created the very situation he was afraid would happen.

I think this is a very in-character trait for him. He's self-serving, perhaps, but I tend to think that it's self-preservation rather than conscious choice.

It's good to see you around again. I know you've been busy!
