The pie is actually my Grandmother's recipe from her mother and so on.

Some nice serendipity happening here! I like the image of Severus as someone whose mind is always seeking solutions to problems, even in the most unlikely of places. It very much is how I envision him. And we get some wonderful whisky pumpkin pie out of it too - any chance of getting Hermione’s aunt to share her recipe?

I really love reading your substantive comments.

The recipe is from my grandmother which includes the standards: canned pumpkin, cream, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, all-spice, and a shot of a good Kentucky bourbon whiskey -- Maker's Mark is the best for that variety.
