I have an ancient marble like that in my kitchen and it's indeed the perfect metaphor for a much-worked soul.

Beautiful again. I can't wait for the continuation - what happened?

Heh, I spent a bit of time wondering if Severus would have marble in his kitchen, but the image just seemed to good to pass up.

A marble slab was common in old kitchens; it was indispensable for pastry work. So there's a good chance Severus would have one, even if the household wasn't posh.
