Hugo entered quietly, trying not to wake anyone.

"Where have you been?" asked a voice from the shadows.

"Tonight's exercise ran late."

"Your mother was hysterical with worry."

"Sorry," Hugo replied, and he was. "But don't you think I'm too old for a curfew? I'll be an Auror in less than two years."

"Perhaps," Snape said, ( Read more... )

Future Auror or not, I'm not sure that Hugo would live had he actually said the words "pretty, pretty nightgown" aloud.

LOL.

(Kids, they will never understand that mothers will worry no matter how old they are, esp when they enter the same career that killed their father.)

Haha, no, but imagine being a young man of the 21st century seeing a grown man wearing a night shirt. And yes, this is wizarding society, but I imagine that they may have grown a bit more Muggle-ish after the war, and what with his mother being a Muggleborn, Hugo's probably more used to men sleeping in pyjamas/underwear/nothing. And yes, they wear robes, so it's not all that crazy, but that's day wear. Even if he's used to seeing robes, night shirts may be a new concept.

Besides, it's mainly just that he likes any chance to needle Snape, even if he'd never say certain thoughts out loud.
