Dear GrangerSnape100-

Week 23 Results, Week 24 Challenge

The Order wins with 475+, and I gave up counting since the DEs got 10. The Hissing Harpies are responsible for the win due to massive cluster drabble hexes.

Just a reminder that to get full points SS and HG must be mentioned in each drabble and the dabble must be 100 words.

Hey there, we've discussed the GS100 points system and we're trying not to take liberties with the comm by diverting away from Severus and Hermione too much during the story. But occasionally, for the sake of the plot or description, we've decided to sacrifice some points. If this is a problem, or you feel things are being taken too far, please let us know!

Also, as far as I'm aware, I've stuck to 100 words exactly according to the MS Word word-count, but it always counts hyphenated phrases as one word even if it's something like "bride-to-be". If that's an issue, could you let me know and I'll pass the word along. If one of us messes up on word-count it would be good to tell us off in the comments. We're often beta'ing each other, and editing on the fly, so I expect a few mistakes have been made, for which I apologise.

each word, minus hypen is one word. Ignore hypehens and eliipses.

Bride-to-be is 3 words.

Yes, I know for serials there are some sacrifices.

But I am seeing non serials in such a manner.

Dont sweat it and have fun.

For the sake of clarification,

"twenty-two" is 2 words.

"Oh... oh, yes" is 3 words.

"Wait-" (long dash) is 1 word.

"I'm in my 'don't-mess-with-me' mood" is 8 words (cause Word will count that as 5 words).

Am I correct?

Droxy, I'm very sorry if I have infringed the word count rules until now - I wasn't aware of doing it.

It's just that I'm not aware of other computer-based methods for counting words. Could you please tell me what I should use for counting?

Second the question. I've always used Word counting for my drabbles, so now I'm wondering how many of them haven't counted. Do we need to manually adjust every count? Or is there some automatic way to count to the comm standard?

MS word is the only thing I know of. One method is to cheat the program...meanign write w/o hyphens, get your count, then add the hyphens in.

Typically most folks use word count in MS word thenmentally compensate for things like symbols and hyphens, Does that help?
