Thank you for making my entire office think I am crazy. I am dying of laughter in regards to Mededith falling off the pier ... and I have not seen the ep. It could be lack of sleep ... nah

Your reaction is probably exactly the same as mine would have been, only with more snark, more eloguence and less ranting. Your Addison paragraph though? Said everything I've been feeling for at least six episodes so perfectly. Her character used to have so much potential to be interesting and dynamic, human yet not ... stereotypical. Well now I have to say that I don't like what she's doing for my gender. Yes, that's right, this is just another one of those annoying post-feminism women-on-a-power-trip-at-the-expense-of-others arc and I loathe them. Forgive me for being far too analytical about this but it's just not right that women can treat men like crap by anyone's standards and then not get called on it by an audience. I don't like social trends in this regard and I really, really hate it when writers of popular shows play into this reverse gender ( ... )

And then there's the Addison-can-do-no-wrong thing fandom's got going on which, as an offset of the above issue, really bothers me. Otherwise intelligent people are just completely closed to the idea that maybe, the way she's treating Mark, Derek and Alex isn't really fair.

I do understand that Mark and Derek are not entirely unaccountable but at the same time why is that Addison gets to mouth off at whoever she feels like and neither of them get the opportunity for rebuttal. Mark's a bad father, but Addison would have been a good mother? Derek's a super slutty husband and as soon as he cheats McMarriage is over, oh-ver, but Addison's the wife out of a homewares commerical and her indiscretion has to be forgiven?

The issues are essentially not one-sided. Derek did want to try to make it work with Addison because of his own compulsive need to be the good guy. Mark did cheat on her because she died her hair blonde, ew of his own pathological addiction to meaningless sex. And yes, they are culpable for their ( ... )
