Simon was still sleeping and River laid out on her front in the living room area. They really needed to get more furniture here, especially if she was ever going to meet Sophie. They couldn't have her over for dinner if they had nothing to sit on. Coloured pencils were scattered around River on the floor and she was busy drawing.
She switched the yellow for a blue and began to colour in the sky. River was drawing the pier where she had spent time with Swan. She remembered watching the sunset there while they ate and it was beautiful. There was something in the beauty of it that reminded her of Serenity. Pausing for a moment she smiled to herself as she remembered the time they had hid on the outer hull of the ship in airtight suits. River missed that, she missed the ship and even though she had spent most of her time inside there were always people to talk to or places to visit.
Eating some of the fruit she had cut up, River turned her attention back to the drawing, it was getting late and she should probably go and wake Simon up soon, he'd promised not to leave her in the house on her own any more and she wanted him to remember that. She would be happy sat in a corner drawing or reading, anything not to sit here on his own and hear the voices.
After a while she pushed herself up, leaving the drawing things where they were as well as the rest of her breakfast, and padded towards the bedroom. Kneeling down she placed her lips near his ear, "Simon...Simon wake up..." She laughed softly, "Simon!"
