Greg and James' Apartment; Evening

May 31, 2006 17:56

It was just after the supper hour when she slipped to the door of the apartment that James and Greg shared.

After a little bit of adjustment, she lifted her hand up and knocked. It wasn't that she didn't feel comfortable just stepping inside, but ... the thought she might be interrupting something did worry her just a tad.

"James?" Her voice was

sophie, greg, house apartment, james

James was in the middle of making dinner; teriyaki stir-fry with udon noodles. He'd diced the chicken and was about to add that to the wok when he heard the knock to the door. Setting the plate and the knife he was going to use to scrape the chicken into the pan, he quickly washed his hands at the sink, dried them, and then headed out of the kitchen towards the front door.

He peered through the keyhole and, seeing Sophie, gave a mild look of surprise before he pulled back, unlatched the door and opened it.

"Sophie," he greeted. "Hey."

A small, fleeting smile. "Have I interrupted your dinner? I can come back later if you desire..."

She rubbed her hand over her upper arm. "I only wanted to tell you that I think I shall be all right, now. I've visited Silas in the hospital."

It probably didn't seem like a good idea. But.

James looked surprised. "You did?"

Before a conversation about that could be started in the corridor, he quickly stepped back, adding as he beckoned her with his hand, "Come in."

"Yes, of course. I wanted to at least check that he'd gotten into the hospital all right."

She slipped into the apartment and closed the door behind her quietly, turning to him. "Are you sure I am not interrupting?"
