I've said before that Facebook is kind of like a social event...a cocktail party attended by basically everyone you've ever known, and occasionally crashed by people you don't. One of the downsides of Facebook is its tendency to cause people to take serious things and turn them into...Facebook. I distinctly remember that when the shootings happened at Virginia Tech, people immediately jumped to make Facebook groups about it. REALLY? Why don't we deal with real life IN real life, guys? It's not as easy or as pleasant, I know, but um, some things aren't supposed to be.

Also, in real life, you can't jump up in front of people and say "we should castrate them all, make them eat their own dicks, and then set them on fire!" without looking like what you are (ie, a psycho.)

Doug Stanhope is fantastic. Netflix used to have this one stand-up of his that I watched randomly (my first exposure to him). It used to be that cokeheads made the best stand-ups...now its drunks I guess.

1) Yeah, it would definitely be a little different if someone were at least compiling signatures and sending congressional petitions, or something, but most of these groups seem to have agendas that go no further than...starting a Facebook group ( ... )
