I remember because I was watching MTV, and FNM were performing songs off "Angel Dust" live at the MTV studios. And they were delightfully messing with the veejays.
As Downtown Julie Brown runs on camera after FNM finishes to announce the showing of "November Rain", Julie jokes to Patton that "You know these guys well; you're touring with them! It's Guns N' Roses!"
There is a different bit of this MTV session on the "Video Croissant" (Later called "Who Cares A Lot") videos collection, which was recently released on DVD (as a double-header with "Live at the Brixton Academy")...
holy crap, this is the funniest thing i've seen in a long time. i bet the show writers got a real kick coming up with that stuff. it reminds me of the time nike ripped off minor threat... only this is way better.
