Jadzia Dax from Star Trek: Deep Space 9For the Item, I say she can have the Tricorder, but because of the strange ionization of the Gate messing with the sensors, all readings are unreliable. To offer some incentive, we could say it takes one in game year for the machine to re-set itself and be able to function at 50% capacity. Up to you guys, ( Read more... )

I accept on technical~!

So, the gate frazzles it so it gives readings, but they aren't always reliable, so you never know when it's actually telling the truth, right? So if they stay in the game a year [RL or RP time?] then the machine will be right 50% of the time? Compared to... what? Is it right only 25% of the time?

You want it to be correct now? I was thinking it was totally borked upon entry.

But we can do, say... 20% of the time. So we can roll a D20 and if it lands on a 1, 5, 10, 15, or 20, it gives a correct reading.

Hmm, no no, when I read unreliable I took that as it was sometimes it was right and sometimes it was wrong, but you could never tell which was which, so it was pointless to use it, thus, unreliable.

It can read correct every blue moon, but she wouldn't ever know it was correct unless it was something obvious? Or it can be totally broken and the recalibrate itself over the course of the year. I don't mind either way. We could come up with a time table for how long Jadxia is here and how accurate the readings get over time? Might be making it too complicated

I like the fact that she wouldn't know it was correct unless it was obvious (like the temperature)

We can say from now until 6 months, 20% correct.

6 months to a year 35% correct.

A year on, 50% correct.
