I live not to far from there, so I have seen it all play out one the local news. And I can honestly say that I am so proud of not only him, but his family for teaching him to think for himself. Crowing up is not easy for anyone the had different views from those around them, but it is REALLY hard when you live in what is called the bible belt of America, trust me I know, I have lived here my whole life.
Oh, I understand too; born and raised in a very conservative, Catholic-Christian part of Louisiana.
I keep trying to find a contact for his mother (the article says she uses Twitter) 'cause I'd like to send a message of support but feel a bit stalkerish.
That kid is amazing, and so are his parents for teaching him so well. It's about time that people recognized that all is not equal in the world, even when we like to think it is.
I feel bad for him getting tormented at school though. That's rough. He's really brave.
And to be honest... he is in fifth grade. That's almost middle school. He'll already be picked on for being smart enough to skip a grade. Gaywad's just the tip of the iceberg for this kid. But I think he'll be fine. He's definitely got convictions.
This is one helluva a kid ... but he clearly has great parents because scary smart kids have to be encaged and taught to think for themselves... kudos to his mom and dad for teaching him that its okay to go against the tide!
And you know what Gracie - you would have a kid like this, because you would TEACH them to be like this.
Any child of mine like that would probably be HELL as a teenager. I don't think logically like that.
And yes, kudos to those parents. I told the maternal parental unit, and she got all offended that he mouthed off to a teacher and won't say the pledge.

I saw that one interview with kid on twitter and went YES!
I love the way they introduced the little boy and the man and the little boy was the adult male and the man was this kid!
Today was a good day. Great day in all things.

Today was just one of those days that made life worthwhile.

"With all due respect, ma'am, you can go jump off a bridge."
That's what the kid said to his sub-teacher after she got nasty.

And she wonders why I don't tell her shit.
