Lt. Jerrold meets Capt. Aubrey

A brief poppet picspam.  I just got these little model ships today (bought, didn't make them) and couldn't resist showing them off.

It's funny to see how CLEAN and pristine Jerrold is compared to Jack, but that's because he hasn't seen any action yet.  Jack and I are rather proud of his scars, though I'm glad there's not a Killick around to nag us ( Read more... )

jerrold, poppets

The Lt. Jerrold books are so amusing. You haven't read them, have you? When I feel like a loser, coward or idiot, Jerrold is right there to commiserate with me (and tell me that it's all right, I'll survive precisely because of those reasons.)

Good god those are tiny ships. I'm impressed, as ever. Am particularly fond of Jerrold's paint job.

They are tiny! I didn't make them though.

Thanks!

I like the contrast between them greatly; with Jack being weatherbeaten and ruddy, having been years at sea and seen plenty of active service - and Jerrold; white, pale, pristine and clueless as ever.*g*

And those are really cute little ships! So tiny!

Heehee, I like the contrast too. Oh, Jerrold!

Aren't they fun? I didn't make them, but I bet I could...

I have no idea why, when you said he lost 80 percent of his gold braid, I kept on thinking about hair (which is not lost at all) and wanted to tell you that he's balding with age! Ack. Anyway, those are some beautiful tiny ships, and great, funny pictures and the story you made around them poppets and their ships. Excellent, but you know that already. :)

If it was his hair coming off, I would definitely glue it back on. He can manage without some gold braid though.

Thanks! :D

Wonderful little ships! I had to laugh at Jack's missing braid -- I was up until 1 in the morning reading the end of The Thirteen Gun Salute, wherein Jack and the Dianes are shipwrecked in a horrible typhoon. My husband woke up, saw me white-knuckling my paperback, rolled his eyes, and went back to sleep.

Is there a Killick Poppet in the works?

Hee, poor white-knuckled you!

No, certainly not. He would make everyone's lives unbearable!
