You're becoming an international celebrity of the miniature world.

I'm almost through the first book, and I thought of your little rooms as I was reading, "In his beautiful little cabin Jack sat reading Steel's Navy List and feeling low...because he was so aware of his feelings aboard."

Usually I have such dreams when I'm so immersed in something, it's as if it just keeps going on in my head, even when the daily events of it are done.

Fame now! Fortune next! I wish... :D

Aww, poor Jack. But at least he gets a nice big cabin all to himself! I always take great pleasure in reading about his cabins, or Stephen's, no matter what ship they're in, because I feel like they're all MINE.

Oh, hooray! And well-deserved! I recall the set of pics that began with that one--just beautiful.

Hi there - I've been watching your Master & Commander miniature project for a while and now, cionaudha has sort of introduced us at her journal... So I hope you don't mind me friending you. Please don't feel obligated to friend back but if you are hiding any mini project posts behind f-lock, I's sure like to see them. ;-)

Your M&C project is just stunning - well done! And some of the accessories you've found... :::THUD:::

Aww, well cionaudha always has good taste...!

Thank you! :D

I'm glad I chose 1:12 scale, "normal" dollhouse scale, since it offers the widest range of accessories and furniture, I think. It's the only scale I've ever worked with. But I see you do 1:6 scale, and you can get Re-Ment things! Lucky! Wish I could use their stuff. Do they make 1:12?

I feel a bit embarrassed about my mini stuff next to yours - But 1/6 scale is an entirely different world. And I'm in it for entirely different reasons. Your project is so completely stunning - Such beautiful items and you've done such an amazing job reproducing a setting - Yes, 1/12 is definitely the better choice for you. My interest in the action figures, while attempting to have some resemblance to the show, is really more from a playing interest - I like functional, playable, stuff and there's a lot out there for 1/6 in that regard. And the 1/6 scale is workable for me in terms of sewing clothes or creating misc things for them - I felt confined and limited by 1/12 when I was into it way back when... But then, we didn't have the amazing tools we do now - Polymer clay, specialty tools, color printers, etc. I've been getting some *awesome* craft ideas from newer dollhouse books. And all the tiny fittings and special supplies I need I can get on the internet now - When I was a kid it was impossible to get hold of them, even ( ... )

Aww, but your things are marvelous! And I envy their playability. Though of course I play with mine a little bit too... :D And oh, the clothes in 1:12 scale are so infuriating at times! Ugh! I haven't even bothered to have Jack and Stephen dolls in my room boxes, partly because of that. It's rare for 1:12 men's clothes and hair to look really good. (Which is to say - yours look GREAT!!!)

Where do you get your Re-ment things? I've seen a website, but it was all Japanese (?) so I couldn't read it. I've been looking for a really large copper stock pot for another scene, but everything I find in 1:12 is too small (all family size. I want industrial size!) and I had a thought that maybe a 1:6 pot would work.

Thank you ! Your miniatures are delightful, more people should enjoy them. It was Elsbeth, a fellow miniaturist, who told me about your site. She doesn't have a website so I featured your miniatures on my blog.

It is a lovely word 'Poppenhuis', and a little alliteration can't be bad: Poppy's Poppenhuis, or Poppenhuis Poppy if one prefers.

I wonder what Freud would have to say about that dream, some deeply rooted anxiety over something in your life not going the way you want it to...

Josje.

I wonder how Elspeth found me! How mysterious and exciting. :D

Hmm, you're probably right about the dream. I haven't even been working on those sorts of things lately (the fiddly mitering in awkward corners etc.) Oh well, better than the usual kind of stress dreams. At least I was working on something I like!

Your blog is so beautiful and so full of wonders!
