Not much on TV these days

Nov 30, 2007 16:01

Finally had a chance to watch Razor last night. I did enjoy it, but probably would have liked it more if had aired closer to the first airing of the eps involving Pegasus. As it was, I've forgotten a lot of the details that the story hinged on, and I'm not that motivated to re-watch everything needed to put it in context ( Read more... )

Whoa. Your whole journal now says that it's not appropriate for minors. How did that happen?

I don't think I saw your Cain/Gina fanfic before. I'll have to check it out. I agree that the young Adama actor did a pretty good job. I was kinda laughing when he did the gruff voice thing though. *snicker*

It's got me wanting more BSG.

Yeah, watching Razor made me miss having BSG on every week.

Is it showing up on your flist as "not for minors"? Grrr. I need to get into the settings and fiddle with that. I don't particularly want kid readers, but I don't want to put off people who don't want to put their age on their LJ.

Yeah, all your entries were showing up with that warning. I had to click a button saying I was over 14. I didn't even know there was a setting for that! Anyway, it's all good now, so I assume you changed it.

I did--thanks for letting me know, I didn't know it would do that!

You certainly can. I was just amazed at how similar your fic was to the actual show. Somebody probably read your fic. *cough* And who needed Quiznos??? It was set out in the scene everyone was in! Thanks for telling us something we already knew!

And I totally bought young Adama. I think I might be a fan. LOL

Hee! Yes, I think I must immediately sue Ron Moore for, like, a million dollars for stealing my idea! Who knew he read fanfic on LJ? ;->

You totally called it.

In fact, when it came on, I gaped at the screen nonplussedly for a few seconds and then muttered, "Sonofabitch!"

And yes, they did a good job with the young Bill Adama... I almost think that they dubbed EJO's voice into the scenes, though.

There were a couple of times when the dialog was almost eerie. LOL! I've actually had this happen with fics before. I wrote a DS9 fic once, and a couple of months later there was a similar episode. Snippets of dialog were almost identical. And I'm sure the ep had been written, and probably filmed, long before I posted.

What I'd really like to know is whether the Cain/Gina backstory was established and given to the actresses when they filmed those earlier episodes. Or, if the actresses sensed the chemistry and ran with it, which got noticed by whoever wrote "Razor".

[snerk]

I know for a fact that most television production and writer-type people avoid fanfic for just that reason.

Perhaps we should start calling you Pythia...

:-D

Dunno... I'd say the former, as Ron Moore seems to be pretty organized.

Right now I'm really just watching the programs airing over on ShowTime and a whole lot of BBC stuff. I'm also watching Canadian shows a lot more than I used to. Hey, I'm desperate!

Unfortunately, we don't get ShowTime in our cable package. :-( Which is too bad, because I'd love to have "Weeds", and I'd probably like "Dexter" too *feels deprived and pouts*

We do get BBC America, so I'll have to explore that more.

The only Canadian show I've seen, and only reruns of older seasons, is "DaVinci's Inquest", and I got quite addicted to that. I had a lot of fun spotting many of the actors from BSG!
