i have been listening to fayjay's incredible recording of restraint, by darkemeralds, and this morning in particular was wondering at the jared-chad dynamic in fandom. i am amazed at how steadfast it is in pretty much all rpf; practically a requirement, insofar as to be so compellingly altered and fashioned in a historical au that seriously makes ( Read more... )

DUDE YES! jerkface friends are totally my favorite, though, i confess. i enjoy when people say the exact opposite of what they mean; i.e. "this is gonna be a long shoot" = "jared is my favorite person in the world and we live together YAY!"

omg Restraint. One of the two podfics that will have me heaving sobs into my pillow. Oh Fayjay. She is amazing. Although her Irish accent is not the best /is biased

And Chad. And that clip. That man is a douche, let's not mince words, but somehow, somehow he manages to be an awesome douch. I really do not know how he does it.

HAHA re: the accent, omg you are so biased YOU TOTALLY DON'T COUNT. neither do i, with as much of your podfic as i listen to XD but omfg that podfic, how utterly inspiring a thing. you are so right. just devastating on all counts. i have half an hour left and i am CLINGING to it, to save it for tonight, with a clear mind, when i can lie in bed in the dark, listen to the end, and then just DWELL on the awesomeness. i refuse to read its end, because i've found i don't like podfics half as much if i've already read the stories, so i now will have to wait for its end to be recorded, with the rest of the patient sum! ughhhh. just the prospect is stressing me out. i hadn't wanted to start listening until it was complete, but roque_classique basically went bananas over it and bullied me into listening. and i'm glad she did! just, the torture, now. ugh.

DUDE, CHAD'S CHARACTER. AMAZING. amazingly written, and performed in a way i feel ABSURDLY ATTACHED TO HIM, and sad, and angry, and like. aw. i love villains i can understand, and he is a great one.

Okay good. I mean, it's fayjay, she is a goddess among women, among podficcers and I genuinely do bow down before her talent. Hero-worship, I do indeed have it. And I am IN THE EXACT SAME BOAT re reading the end. I will wait for fayjay to finish podficcing it and then I will roll around in it. I won't spoil you for the ending by telling you my reaction but when you finish it LADY, WE MUST DISCUSS IT. IN DEPTH. AND LOVE IT.

He is a fantastic villain because he is human, just a hurt human who acts intolerably because he can't cope otherwise, so angry and feeling replaced and rejected. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE ABSURDLY ATTACHED.

Did you find yourself speaking in that English? Because I sure did. I listened to all three parts without stopping and I pissed off my entire family by speaking in a language that confused them -- it was FUCKING BRILLIANT!

HAHA i was just saying further up how i have been all messed up with my manner of speech and my roommate is going to think i am a crazyperson! XD that is a testament to great writing, for sure; i can't even begin to conceive of how much darkemeralds must know of the time period to be writing it so well. good god. especially the dialogue - I DARESAY I CANNOT BEAR IT, FOR HOW WONDERFUL IT IS.

i meant to ask -- what was the other of the two podfics that set you to an emotional mess? if i haven't listened yet, it's gotta be next on my list.

Restaint is like my most favorite thing in the world. I have this unwritten rule that fandom should never ever ever do Regency AUs b/c it never goes well. But this story broke all the rules -- it is incredible and enthralling and just...AMAZING. And to hear Fayjay is doing the podfic -- Woot!!!! *adds to list of podfics to listen to*

Also, that video! Oh, yes. Where the Chad characterizations got started. OMG, I miss RPS from circa 2006. The Jared-Chad connection. I also miss the Jensen-Chris connection. Oh, RPS fandom of old. I miss thee.

i meant to write a long crazy diatribe on how awesome fayjay's reading of it was, but might wait til another big podfic list. but oh MAN, if you haven't listened, start as soon as possible. there are no words for all she does and accomplishes in that piece. i'm literally going to start listening to it again tonight. i think it was something like 18 hours of listening; and having gone through so much with the characters, i'm kind of fuzzy on the nuances of the beginning ( ... )
