PERMISSIONS

GENERALFourth Walling:
Somewhat open. He's from almost current chapters right now, so there isn't much you can tell him that he doesn't know. All else fails, ask please.

Threadjacking:
Go for it. Especially as long as I can do it back to you. =D

Action tags:
All for it. All else fails, ask please.

PHYSICAL
Fighting:
I'm not brilliant at fight logs, but if you want to fight, and Kakashi's ICly willing (he's lazy, so he might not be interested), let's go for it.

Injuries:
With just cause; it's part of being a ninja.

Killing:
Probably not.

RELATIONSHIPS
Falling in Love:
If your character can put up with him, crushes are fine. Don't expect him to just reciprocate, though.

Sex:
Please ask first. Probably not.

Kissing:
Probably not. The mask is going to stay on, and he's not a very touchy-feely kind of guy.

Orientation:
Bi-sexual, sort of. He rarely shows actual attraction to, or romantic interest in, anyone, though sexually he'll go both ways.

Relationships:
If you can get close to him, sure. Most of his relationships will be platonic, usually distant, and it's nothing against you. That's just how he is. If he keeps talking to you, chances are he finds you interesting. That might be enough to say he kind of likes you. If he lets you stick around, now that's really something.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

Name:
aka:
Hatake Kakashi
Copy-Ninja/Copy-Nin, Kakashi-Sensei (to Team Seven), Kakashi-Sempai (to Yamato, etc), Eternal Rival (to Gai) …aliases, he has them.

Age:
About 30

Gender:
Male

Fandom:
Naruto, manga

Timeline:
As of writing this, he’s from the most recent chapters.

Konoha and the Shinobi Nations prepare to go to war. Kabuto resurrects his unwilling and dead puppet army. Gaara has been put in charge of the Shinobi army and made an impassioned speech uniting the Nations, Yamato has been captured/interrogated, and Kakashi is in charge of Division Three, which consists of Gai, Lee, and Sakura (among others, presumably).

History:
Naruto Wikia has a history for him extending all the way to present chapters.

Character Personality:

Between the mask and the personality, one can be certain there is more to this strange man than first meets the eye. Kakashi gives the impression of being extremely laid back, easy going, and casual about...well, most everything. Often seen with his nose buried behind the lurid pages of Jiraiya's infamous bestseller, Icha Icha Paradise, he gives the appearance of being half-asleep or uninterested in anything around him. Others don't always understand or appreciate his dry, droll sense of humor, and sometimes his to-the-point remarks can rub people the wrong way (and he takes perverse pleasure in irritating people who react in ways that amuse him), but one only has to look underneath the underneath to discover that Kakashi is deeper, kinder, and maybe less stable than he seems on the outside.

Still haunted by the events of his past, Kakashi now values teammates above missions, but he is nevertheless unwilling to consider even those he is closest to as his precious people. After all, all of his precious people are dead. Some who know his troubled past, have worried that Kakashi is just biding his time until he could join them in the afterlife. Sadly, that may not be far from the truth.

Despite all these eccentricities, his hip-modern attitude and his dark past, he is one of Konoha's most skilled ninja and a true genius. He is a man of limitless contradictions and those contradictions have defined every sense of his being: casual, sometimes teasing, he is ultimately still reserved and aloof, distant from those that he holds closest. He is a loner who teaches the value of teammates and comrades, a pervert who never does much in the way of perversion aside from reading porn in public… More than anything, he seems to “not care” about those around him, when the truth is quite the opposite, as he displays a definite (if somewhat still reserved) interest in the lives and well-being of his teammates and comrades on numerous occasions. Sometimes, it seems, the person Kakashi’s façade is most trying to fool is himself.

Character Abilities:

Having graduated from the Ninja Academy at the age of 5 (for comparison, Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke become genin at the age of 13), calling Kakashi the top of his class probably doesn’t do his intelligence justice. He displays a cool-under-pressure attitude and the ability to understand a battle, opponent, and technique on the spot. His intellect and strategy may not reach the level of the Nara family, but Kakashi is certainly one of the most highly skilled ninja that Konoha has to offer.

Kakashi is well known for having over one-thousand techniques at his disposal (these are referred to as jutsu in his canon), so listing or knowing what all of them are (most of which have never been seen in the series) is fairly impossible. Of the ones he's used, he usually copies his enemies' techniques at the time said enemy is using the technique or relies on using the same set of skills again and again.

Most of those "same set of skills" are, of course, the standard Naruto-series ninja skills:

• basics in taijutsu (fighting arts - hand-to-hand combat), ninjustu (ninja arts), and genjutsu (illusionary arts)

• throwing weapons (shuriken and kunai, also known as throwing-stars and throwing-knives) with some ounce of accuracy

• running really fast

• walking on walls and water

• teleporting (poof-disappear, poof-reappear - usually used to surprise his students or appear late to the Hokage's meeting)

• substituting himself with an object, like a log, to avoid being hit by enemy attacks - stupid looking, but effectual

• transforming to look like another person (based on memory; he has to have seen the person first and recall what they look like or it won't be an accurate likeness)

He’s also trained for the ANBU black ops, a highly-skilled legion of ninja operatives, and he possesses a pack of dogs which he can summon (though he cannot do so here).

Using skills, however, uses up Kakashi's energy (chakra) in the same way using magic in an RPG typically uses up MP, or in the way running a mile typically exhausts a person's body. Different skills, like different activities or different spells, use different amounts of chakra, with some costing more than others and tiring Kakashi out faster. No more chakra equals dead ninja, so a ninja has to be mindful of his use of techniques.

Special Techniques Of Note:

Chidori
The move gets its name (One Thousand Birds) from the sound produced by the lightning: it supposedly sounds like chirping birds. Basically, the skill involves Kakashi building up energy (chakra) in the form of lightning in his hand and running it through his enemy's body. Its upgrade, Raikiri (Lightning Blade) can split a lightning bolt, though we've never seen that feature. The move is very fast, but creates "tunnel vision," which can leave the user open to enemy attacks. Using Sharingan counteracts this tunnel vision problem.

Sharingan Eye
This eye (the same kind Itachi and Sasuke were born with) is responsible for earning Kakashi the nickname “The Copy Ninja,” as the eye possesses the ability to copy virtually any move it sees. But since the eye is not his own, and his body is not that of an Uchiha (the family born with the Sharingan), Kakashi’s eye is always active and always draining his chakra. Think of it as a transplant that the body doesn't reject, but conflicts with, so Kakashi's energy gets used up if the eye is in use. So he keeps it closed so that he doesn’t pass out unnecessarily. If he uses it in battle, though, expect him to be out of commission for a while afterward. He’s managed to evolve the eye in the time-skip (the time his students were away, following Sasuke's defection), producing a Mangekyo level eye (an upgrade that lets him do more with it...) and gaining a time-space jutsu known as Kamui, which can collapse space and teleport an object to another dimension.

Character Weaknesses:

Fear of loss and of failure stagnates much of Kakashi’s life and his interpersonal growth. He refuses to let himself become as close to his comrades as he could be (or as they may want to be to him) because of this overwhelming fear that he will (a) lose them to some traumatic fate eventually (a boulder or collapsing cave would probably be especially poignant, as would suicide), or at least cause their ruin, and (b) that he will in some way fail them. This fear (and its repercussions) is compounded by the reality that Kakashi has, on more than one incident, actually lost and failed comrades. Obito, Rin, and Minato died. Sasuke (and Itachi) defected. Team Seven fell apart. He was not sensei enough to properly teach Naruto or Sakura the skills they need to get by (and Sasuke obviously thought Kakashi was a failure, he left Kakashi for Orochimaru). Kakashi takes these things to heart, and his aloof, indifferent attitude sometimes masks insecurities.

Indifference itself is an undeniable character flaw. Although aloof, indifferent, and untouchable may be useful traits as a ninja-certainly the ability to remain just detached enough to get a mission done and push through when events sour, as well as to keep a level head-are appropriate and necessary in the battlefield, Kakashi’s entire life is not spent in missions and he is no robot. He may deny himself attachments, attempt to distance himself from the group, and pretend he isn’t available emotionally or physically, but he is rarely actually any of those things. Kakashi cares, and his apparent indifference actually makes it difficult for him to let himself be cared about in return. So while he preaches teamwork for Team Seven, and would gladly throw down his life to protect any comrade, I’m not always sure Kakashi himself believes, or ‘expects’ maybe is the better word,

Sakumo’s death forced Kakashi to not only grow up before his time, but also set an example for his behavior for years to come. Sakumo died because he failed a mission, and the village hated him for it. For years, until Obito’s death, Kakashi sought to be the perfect tool of Konoha, because a tool is dispensable, but useful until it breaks or fails to serve its purpose. If Kakashi wanted to be useful, he would have to be a good tool, by the book, following orders to a T. Until about the age of thirteen, that was Kakashi’s identity.

Obito presented a world in which one’s first priority should be to his comrades, not to the rules or the mission parameters. Essentially, he approved of Sakumo’s actions, and Obito gave his life for Kakashi. The conflicting points of view (a cold and forced indifference, and a team player) never seem to fully resolve in older Kakashi. Though it’s clear he eventually throws himself into Minato’s teamwork philosophy and protect-your-team-at-all-costs mentality inherited from Obito, the lingering fear of failing Konoha itself likely never ceases to leave him.

The Sharingan, given that it is not biologically Kakashi’s, creates a physical weakness every time it is used. It is draining to his chakra, and generally requires a long recovery after use.

MEISTER ONLY SECTION

Why your character should be a Meister:

In nearly every avenue of his career where Kakashi is part of a team, he has a leadership position: sensei and leader of Team Seven/Team Kakashi, superior to Yamato in ANBU, and as a child serving in Minato’s squad, he is assigned to lead his two same-age teammates into battle (though this mission fails). Kakashi is even considered for the position of Hokage (commander-in-chief of Konoha) on a couple of occasions.

That isn’t to say a Meister is in charge and/or controlling his Weapon. Quite the contrary. Meisters and their Weapons are a team; the parts are meant to compliment each other to equal a greater whole than if they were each measured separately. The relationship between them is not unlike team formation in Konoha. Kakashi, as a sensei, emphasized that teammates are supposed to look out for each other, and his team was probably designed to make a cohesive unit (if they work together).

In the position of Meister, with full control of his body, he would be better able to make the necessary commands and decisions that would keep him and his Weapon alive. For Kakashi, the position of Meister is less about not wanting to be controlled (he is, after all a tool of Konoha, and a Weapon for his village, so he is very controlled, really) than it is about being the natural team leader and actively serving to protect the ally in his care. He is used to working in a team environment, and so, as long as his weapon is someone whose ethics and abilities are such that he can respect them, help/learn from them, and as long as they put up with his quirks, he should make a good Meister.

Meister Ability:

Soul Steal - They are able to mimic their enemy's abilities for a short amount of time. When resonating with a Weapon, the time is extended.

Conditions for Soul Stealing:

1. They can only mimic the ability of meisters at their current level. Witch abilities will be open to them only if they become a three-star meister.

2. They need to witness a demonstration of the ability from start to finish, or have it used on them (provided that they survive).

3. They may only use the ability once (more than once if with a weapon, depending on level of resonance).

4. They do not retain the ability. If they need to use it a second time, they will need to fulfill the second condition again.

5. They can 'store' a copied meister ability for up to 24 hours, after which they need to either use it or it will be forfeited.

SOUL INFORMATION

Soul Description:
Elusive, Reserved, Intelligent, Dangerous, Cynical, Lonely.

Soul Appearance:
Kakashi’s Soul is a modest, moderate sized soul, grayish-white in color, and of a slightly oblong ball-shape. For a face, it has the henohenomoheji symbol (へのへのもへじ) that Kakashi’s ninken (ninja-dogs) wear on their vests. The soul is not showy and, due to the henohenomoheji, almost looks a little morose.
