"A song of ice and fire" is a fantasy serie that George RR Martin started in 1996. there are actually 4 books out, at about 1000 pages each. it's FABULOUS fantasy, where we follow the destiny of several families/individuals. it's a big big world, with lots of characters. several are just too awesome (and like in every book, there are some I find weaker, that don't interest me as much).

I've always liked fantasy, like "The lord of the rings", and this is in the big leagues, quality wise. it's not a fairy tale though, with sex/murders/incest/betrayal/monsters etc

I first read them in French, so if you are curious, you can look it up. the serie is called "le throne de fer" and each book in english makes 3 books in french. awesome, I recommend it!

Oh, I've never read the books but they sound really interesting, especially that they are geared to adults..I FREAKIN' LOVE ROME AND DEADWOOD..oh Deadwood..and if they are in this vein, I'll ADORE IT.

Thank you for the rec, I'll be looking for it.

And CAA is on fire lately, all their people are working gangbusters and now this..good for them.

yes, those books are totally geared towards adults, so if you like fantasy, give them a try! you have nothing to lose and a great deal to gain, IMHO

my husband recorded all the first season of Rome.. I'd look with an eye, it was extremely well done. would love to see the sequel but we don't have HBO. It will surely be translated and shown here though, someday! *sigh*
