Love the POTC one! Haven't read any POTC fics in forever, and I've grown to have a lot more appreciaton of Will over time (I always liked him, but I was a Jack and James fangirl right from COTBP on:)).

I have some problems with the sequels, but I think Will turned out to have the best and most satisfying character arc.

I like how Will's disappointment comes across so strongly in your fic - that he imagined all of the things his father was doing, but it never occurred to him that he could be a pirate. It's just so realistic and true to Will's character.

*squee* Thank you! Glad you liked it. Will's a great character, but Jack Sparrow has so much personality, it's easy to get distracted. XD

For Son of a Pirate:

I love this; it feels to me like all the thoughts that were going through his head when you see his face just fall when Jack tells him his father was a pirate.

It’s also very poetic that while Will didn’t know about his father and would reject the idea of him being a pirate, Elizabeth always knew and accepted him for it, even as a child.

Thank you! I'm pleased to hear you think it fits a scene in the movie perfectly--that's exactly what I was going for!

It is poetic, indeed! Funny thing is, the simple irony in Elizabeth's acceptance and Will's rejection really didn't strike me until I was writing the fic. Nothing like writing to get you thinking deeper on a subject, especially one you assumed was a little (or a lot) simpler.
