But, ugh, that season finale absolutely gutted me. Probably one of the most intense, heart-wrenching finales I've ever watched.

And now I'm really, really tempted to stop watching right here.

Speaking as someone who watched all the seasons, Season 4 really is the pinnacle of Dexter. The rest of it is just bad, and the finale is worst.

Probably one of the most intense, heart-wrenching finales I've ever watched.

Oh, yeah, it had my heart racing all episode long. I was so happy that Rita and the kids got out of town, but then when Dex got back home and they camera was lingering--I knew there had to be something else bad, very bad, about to happen. :(

I'd been tempted to see Season Five. Initially what tempted me was that Peter Weller was in it. Then I was tempted again when I discovered that Angela Bettis (ZOMG she is so awesome) was in it. But even Bettis isn't enough to override the overwhelmingly negative reports about every season from five onwards. It just isn't worth it.

I know what you mean about the finale. I was inclined to wonder, where are they going to go with this now. And from the sounds of it, the showrunners didn't really know either.

Then I was tempted again when I discovered that Angela Bettis (ZOMG she is so awesome) was in it.

IIRC, Bettis is only in one or two episodes and it's a small part and towards the end of the season. Not really worth the trouble if you're only thinking about watching for her.

If Rita was left alive it would have made a better finale than what they did with the last season...
