I stumbled across a book title that got me really, really excited: The Heroine's Bookshelf: Life Lessons from Jane Austen to Laura Ingalls Wilder. ZOMG. Laura Ingalls Wilder shaped my girlhood, and Jane Austen shaped my teen years. Must. Read. This. Book.

But when I actually started reading it today, I didn't get far before I lost patience.

Okay--obviously, you know you and I don't agree on all things Austen. But "raucous?" I could see "willful," maybe; or perhaps "feisty" by Victorian standards. But "raucous?" No.

Hee, glad we agree here. I'm probably over-analyzing this, trying to figure how in blazes Lizzy came off that way to her--but I'm really wanting to know. It completely baffles me. (Translation to Dalek-speak: EXPLAIN. EXXXPLLAAAAIIINNNNNNNNNN!)
