Mom has her surgery on Monday while I am in classes. Double mastectomy, due to the high cancer risk in our family. So my doctor is mostly likely going to want to do my first mammogram before 40. She is really nervous but I told her to hang in there. She's a strong mama she can handle this. I'm making her a few chemo caps that will be nice for her ( Read more... )

hang in there. Best wishes for your mom.

My friend had some genetic testing done and found that she is at high risk for getting breast cancer and has opted for surgery as a preventative measure; I think she was at an 85% or more chance of getting it. A very tough choice. But one that she feels pretty good about.

So, certainly for you, I would recommend being proactive. Diligent screening and such.

Talked to her yesterday..... she sounds depressed. But told me that her coworkers want chemo caps to (im making her some) to wear at work when she is back to work, they wanna support her. which is cool.

yeah.... screening. there is only so much you can tell from self exame.

Damn. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. She IS a strong woman and will pull through this!

I used Southern Comfort when my kids were teething. Rub a little on the baby's gums, a shot for you, and everybody sleeps! Magic! lol
