Man, oh man! Child support, eh? Let's see...my dad paid it to my mom b/c she raised us by herself and he made four times what she did and that's because he left us before she could renew her teaching license. Child support is not always bad! Without it, we would have been homeless!
Some of this I agree with, and some I don't. There are a lot of shades of gray in the world, very little actual black and white, right and wrong. For most (not all!) programs there is a good purpose and a good use, and on the flip side, some bad people who abuse it.
The American system is broken. The current administration is not interested in fixing it, but only in exploiting it. Like Rome, will we burn? Or can things be saved?
robert, if two people are in a museum and goofing off and they both knock over an expensive vase, do you think only one should have to pay for it? or should they both because they were both responsible?
i don't like the fact that people are dumb enough to not protect themselves and wind up with children on the way and no financial stability to take care of themselves AND a child, but if it's both the couple's fault, woman AND the man, why is it that only one should have to pay for it?
i'm not saying there aren't people out there who take advantage of the system, but the system was put in place for a reason. because there are some peope out there who neglect their responsibilities. it's a neglect of responsibility when you have a child you cannot financially support, yes, but it is also neglect when you make the mistake and choose not to own up to it.
