No shit, Hell, the only way it may be better than the 12 colonies at this point is the radiation levels may be tolerable.

I know, I was like "WHAT KIND OF MID-SEASON COPOUT IS THIS RDM?!"

Perhaps this is not Earth...perhaps it is the home of the 13th tribe, abandoned for Earth. There supposedly was an old BSG episode that was written but not filmed, where they found "Earth", but it was really a cursed planet the 13th tribe had fled, but they left markers to lead them.

Oh and in orbit...where are all the satellites? Or debris from them?

That one is easy enough. If we all went poof tomorrow for some reason, the orbit of most satellites would decay in 20-50 years.

Maybe, there were no really clear looks at Earth to see coastlines and the like, we just have Gaeta's confirmation that the constellations match.
