A "morning" routine

It's getting to be a habit and she should probably be careful of that.  Being predictable can get one into all kinds of trouble.  But the vanilla caramel mocha at the Java Hut is positively heavenly and the walk there is a good way to wake herself up.  Okay, yes, she's making excuses, especially seeing as she trains for an hour before "breakfast" ( Read more... )

An elderly man, in an elegant gray coat, sits in a corner of the coffeehouse. A steaming cup of Earl Gray Tea is sitting on the table right in front of him, together with a tiny jug of milk and a few slices of lemon arranged on a saucer.

When Cass incidentally turns in his direction, Alfred offers her a discreet smile and slowly stands up.

The beautiful brown eyes widen a little then a gentle smile curves her lips. She takes the Pumpkin Cinnamon Latte from the berrista and heads over to the butler.

"Alfred," She says, please to see him. The Asian girl looks him over, trying to find clues for why he'd be here at this particular time. Was something wrong? No, someone would have contacted her. But the proper English gentleman never seemed the sort to frequent coffee shops.

"Good morning Young Mistress Cassandra. It is a real pleasure to see you again and in good health", the man greets with a warm smile and the slightest hint of a bow.

She smiles. "You too. Missed you." And she did, very much so when she was in Hong Kong. She missed all of them greatly.

But. She can see it. Something. Cass eyes him, squinting, her lips pursed. But there is also a good deal of amusement under her scrutiny.

"What up to?" she asks bluntly.

Uttering a polite "Please excuse me," Alfred heads to the counter, leaving the three girls to exchange pleasantries. He returns to the table immediately after though, carrying a plastic tray with two steaming mugs. He didn't need to ask to order; the butler knows the tastes of his "children" very well.

"I believe I have made you wait long enough. Time has come for me to... spills the beans, so to say," he jovially announces, while offering the mugs to Cissie and Stephanie. He sits, places the tips of his fingers together and opens: "I imagine you all are well aware of how our family has... grown in recent times, with the addition of Younger Master Timothy and Young Mistress Mar'i."

Cass is looking at everyone, taking in the body language. Cissie is someone she met only on her blog a couple of times. And the young woman seems to feel out of sorts. Cass doesn't know if she should do something about that. It is after all, Alfred's show. Dick would probably hug the girl or make a joke or....something. Not that such things are Cass' style.

And Steph. It's good to see her. It is. Just. Awkward.

The butler is talking. Moving. then he's back with drinks for the other two, Cass already having her own. Her eyes narrow a little with suspicion. She nods at his final question.

Alfred nods back. "Now, while I feel like saying that Younger Master Timothy has been settling in quite nicely, I sadly have to admit that Young Mistress Mar'i is having GREAT difficulty." The butler takes a short pause and a sip of tea. "The girl is... overly sincere and also VERY honest with her feelings. And she has... a temperamental nature and an amazing strength that she seems unable to control yet".
