I'm with you. I think there's a tendency to put people on a pedestal. Whereas to me the artist is just another person, like me. They produced something awesome and that's cool, and if I were hanging out with them I might tell them it was awesome. If it came up. But I'd rather just chat with them like a person than produce some awkward fannish moment just to say I'd met them... with no real communication. What does that mean, anyway? Just some social currency you can use to impress people in conversations in the future?
