Laphroaig is a beautifully peaty Scotch, and a great starting point for moving away to less traditional choices.
There are a number of favourite drinking holes that stock it, and it's always a great starting point to the evening.
I'd suggest trying it again without all the ice, possibly - just a few drops of water - then again, that's going to make those flavours even stronger, so maybe not?
I'm not a massive fan of Laphroig myself - and I do like peaty whisky usually. I think it's a bit un-subtle... but then, a lot of people like it so who am I to judge.
For something a bit different Glenmorangie have a version called the "Quinta Ruban" - it's a smoother whiskey with a real chocolate, spicy flavour. It's finished in Port Casks, which gives it the really interesting flavour.
