I picked up the latest Supernatural magazine and they spelled Castiel's nickname Cass. But in fandom I see everyone spell it Cas. So which is right?

So I shall create a poll and hope it works.

Well, I've said 'Cas' but to be honest when he first started using it I used to spell it 'Cass' so I have no idea. LOL!

I don't either and since the show has officially declared the spelling Cass, it's a bit awkward. Most readers spell it Cas at this point.

'Cass' doesn't really make sense to me since his name isn't Casstiel

FWIW, I'd expect "Cas" to be pronounced "Caz," and "Cass" to be pronounced "Cass."

If I had never heard it spoken aloud, and I saw the name, "Cas" in fic, I too would assume it was pronounced, "Caz".

I thought so too, but at this point everyone has collectively decided to spell it Cas.
