The sewing machine now works. I can sew or at least attempt to sew. So far I've used it for fixing a few things that have needed repairing for a long time ( Read more... )

There are these things you can get that go on the claws or something and stops them clawing or something, they come in bright colours also.

Made of vinyl, DIY and colorful. Much cheaper and it might help?

Thanks for the link. We definitely do not want to have his claws removed and this looks like a much better and cheaper alternative.

I've got a few friends who've done this for their cats and it has helped a lot and the cats don't seem to mind either.

You might want to try a different type of scratching post. Also, Soft Paws sound like a better idea than declawing and a lot less expensive.

I agree about the scratching post. It sounds like he prefers paper (mine does, too) to anything else, so I'd recommend one of the flat round cardboard kind. You can also get rectangular ones at Ikea that are cheaper and take up less space.

The soft paws sound good, but if it doesn't work there is a spray you can put on your furniture that will keep the cat away from it. You can't smell it yourself, but it will keep the cat away.

It's cheap and effective :-)
