Somehow, by a miracle and sheer force of will, Kirk had managed to evade being eaten by a wolf today.

He was actually just getting some sunshine and taking his time with it. He'd never really been able to claim that he was more in love with nature than his starship but Enterprise was different than the Barge, and the Barge made him pine for fresh air whenever he could get it. If he had to drag Shego out camping with him and Aristotle every once in a while... then so be it.

Jim came up behind Shego and nudged her in the back with the toe of his boot lightly. "Anyone kill somebody or a Warden abuse their power yet?" Because that was really all that happened anymore.

"Lazy ass," Jim muttered but he went to get them for her. Probably just for the sake of throwing them in her direction after he picked them up.

And then she was being pelted with shoes. Well, a shoe, because she caught the second one and took a moment to pull them both on before hopping down off the rock. At least she was dressed like a normal person; being pelted with a boot might've hurt.

"So are you over your 'secret Kirk babies everywhere' turmoil yet? I forgot to ask."

She would've deserved it.

Kirk shrugged a little bit. He'd thought about taking her suggestion and going back but in the end, it wouldn't have been worth the effort. A good number of them were dead in the attack on Vulcan and he couldn't even begin to start on his days in Iowa and the surrounding area.

"Pretty sure I'll never really be over the idea. But I don't feel like harassing women about it."

"Great. That's....healthy. I think." She tucked her hands into her jacket pockets as they walked. "And fits in nicely with your ongoing 'not going back to those losers on the Enterprise' agenda."

Jim gave her a glare out of the corner of his eye for that. There would be a reason why he never talked about it. And that would be because he was in love with the grudge he had against the lot of them. "I have a job to do here."

That'd be a more convincing argument if you were actually doing it, Kirk. But she knew not to say that, because the last thing she wanted was for him to make any serious attempt to Warden her competently. She liked this current situation of them both being utterly unmotivated.

"Yeah, I know."

"Not that it's a very action packed job." He liked to think of himself as a realist. There wasn't any denying that he wasn't really pushing her hard towards graduation like some of the other Wardens. But almost two years together was a long time and that amount of time was more than a lot of people could boast.

"But I hate beating dead horses, so here we are."

"Here we are." She smiled sweetly at him. "I could always take up pointlessly stealing stuff and hurting people if it'd make your life more interesting."

"Then I would lose respect for you. Petty thieving and bullying? You're better than that. And not in the do something bigger and more evil way, cause you've proven you're better than that too."

She scoffed. "Oh really. When did that happen, sport?"

"When you spent the past year doing nothing terribly evil."

"Spare me. At best, that proves I'm lazy, or I have a functional sense of pattern recognition. Nothing evil anybody ever does here ever lasts, so why bother?"

"Nothing really evil lasts in the real world either."

"Whatever, I think we both know I'm not talking about anything fundamentally evil here. I'm just saying, I'm not better than anything, I just know there's nothing I could do here that'd be worth the consequences. I'm not some member of the 'irrational brainwashed crazy' brigade who does stuff because they don't know how else to exist."

"You're just lazy. And we're beating a dead horse again."
