This is the Barge. Everybody lies all the time anyway. This shouldn't be such a freaking pain.

I don't even know what taupe looks like.

Jim paused for a moment.

Well, one drink couldn't hurt.

"What, you don't have any stashed away in here?"

"No, of course I don't."

She rolled that around in her head, then sighed heavily and went over to a chest of drawers in one corner. The top drawer - the only one with a decent lock - had a Tribble, a bottle of vodka and a few other bits and pieces of minor contraband in it; she took the bottle out and re-locked the drawer.

"Oh look at that," Kirk commented dryly. It was ironic, how it took a flood about lying to bring a lot of truths to the surface. "Get pouring then."

She muttered a few vaguely uncharitable things under her breath, but found two shot glasses - possibly stolen from the bar at some point - and poured, holding one out to Kirk and sprawling across the sofa with her own.

"Here's to just not talking the next time a flood rolls around."

"Watch, now it'll be one where everyone can't shut up," Jim pointed out, holding his glass up in a cheers and then downing the shot like a pro. It didn't do much in way of getting him intoxicated but it still felt good. "All in all, it could've been worse."

"I guess. And seriously, a normal day on the Barge is when everyone can't shut up. I almost feel sorry for the ones who think they're being original."

"It's not their fault they're boring," Jim answered, twirling the shot glass around in his hand, just because he could. "You think you're going to be able to sleep any better tonight?"

"Yeah. No. Maybe." She frowned and sipped her vodka. "I don't know. I guess I won't know until I've tried."

"I was going to suggest that we borrow a few movies from Martha, maybe invite Tim over if you want, and just either stay up all night watching them or fall asleep watching them, which both are pretty okay options."

She gave him a look. "I'm not having you and Tim in my room during the same night. That's just...weird. But, I guess I could stand to watch movies until I pass out."

"He totally would've been the first one to pass out. We could've drawn on him," Jim pointed out. "But any suggestions on what you wanna watch?"

"I really love dumb action movies. The more explosions the better And musicals." She smacked her hand against her forehead. "You really need to knock it off with the questions, Jimmy."

"Sorry, it's hard to have a conversation without them," Jim winced a little bit because now he just felt bad about it. "You can pick on me and I'll answer questions truthfully for you if you need revenge."

"Tempting, but I'll pass. I already know way more about you than I can ever see myself needing to."

"Yeah, we're probably going to have to kill each other in a murder-suicide pact soon to protects all of the secrets," Kirk said dryly.
