Some members liked the idea of having a kink meme/comment fic meme on got_exchange, especially since the other ASOIAF/GoT kink memes are fairly dead at the moment. (It's only posted on the mod account journal because I don't want anonymous comments on the exchange comm.)

I believe he was, yeah. But he's only referred to by his first name (god knows its a popular one), not the Maid or anything, so it could be some other dude. Asha enquires after a guy that died and he's really obnoxious about it, as far as I can remember.

See, Roose just sort of freaks me, but I know where you're coming from. I guess sometimes you don't even know what it is makes you like a certain character, the appeal is just there.

Ah, I had forgotten about that. I was probably not really paying attention because, as I said, I wasn't a big Theon fan yet so I was a bit like, "get on with it!"

That's why I like Roose, because he's so freaky. ^^ But, yes, sometimes we like or dislike characters for the weirdest reasons. I mean, I adore Victarion and I'm not entirely sure if it's only because he's somewhat insane or if i have any better reasons for that. ;)

Thanks. ^^ But, tbh, I'm just doing this out of the very selfish wish to read more fanfic. ;) I'm honestly fairly new to this fandom and I couldn't believe how little fic there is, especially about less popular pairings (i.e. anything that's not Sandor/Sansa or Jaime/Brienne, or Stark gen).

Haha, I feel you. Chapters of characters you're not wild about (at the time) can drag.
I am actually really exited to see the TV series version of Roose, because I know the actor mainly from a comedy show he's so funny in, and it'll be interesting from that perspective to watch him doing cold and scary.
Victarion is the best, I dig him too. You just never know what crazy shit he's going to pull out of the bag next.
Well, I'm so glad you're doing it in any case because it's really sweet to have an active community dedicated to ASOIAF, and especially one that gives rare pairings love :)

At least I have a general idea of what happens in Theon's chapters, I can't say the same about, I don't know, Brienne. ;)
I've seen clips from that comedy show, and I really can't wait to see his take on Roose. I'm also curious about Balon, even though he's the least interesting one of the older Greyjoy brothers.
Victarion is so awesome. In AFFC I was thinking, "oh, he seems to be the sane Greyjoy" ... and then ADWD happened. ;) He's hilarious. What a pity he won't be on the show any time soon.

I'm glad it's appreciated. :) I never expected so many people to participate, neither in the exchange nor on this comment fic meme. Unfortunately there is not a single active fic comm for ASOIAF, it's sad. Heh, and maybe my own love for unloved characters (big Stannis fan here) encourages people not to be too shy about their own rare pairings. I don't know, I'm just happy about it because I love the Greyjoys, and the Boltons, and the Baratheons, and other people nobody else seems to give a shit about. ;)

Hmm yes, I may be a little hazy on Brienne myself, not that I don't like her, but not hugely invested either.

Hee, Victarion in ADWD is like the comedic relief for me. I do feel sorry for those poor girls he sacrifices, but seriously, some of the other stuff, just. Ridiculous shit. I'm disappointed they apparently haven't cast any of Balon's brothers for the new season, too.

Aww, Stannis. I want to be more into Stannis and Davos, and Renly and Loras as well, but I'm kind of on a bit of a het fixation right now I can't seem to shake.

I always felt that Brienne doesn't have enough of a personality to be disliked. She just bores me to tears. I mean, nothing against people who like her, I just wish I didn't have to read SO MANY chapters about her in which nothing happens. And I can't skip chapters, I'm always afraid I might miss just one tiny important bit of information.

Victarion is almost on the same level of hilarity as Cersei, and that's difficult. I understand why they haven#t cast the other Greyjoys yet, but it still makes me sad. I neeeeeed Victarion.

Heh, pity, because there's been some Stannis fic lately, finally. Although, considering how repressed Stannis is, even most Stannis slash is sorta UST/gen. He's all like "omfg kissing that's frivolous I will just stare longingly at my Davooooos". But, yeah, if you're looking for het, that doesn't really help either. I've written some Stannis/Selyse, though, trololol, unsexiest het pairing ever. ;)

I'll honestly read most things such as that though, for real. Perhaps enjoyable hot sex isn't something I'd immediately assosiate with Stannis and Selyse, but it's adventurous to write them nevertheless. Considering the woeful variety of my pairing reportoire, I can't say anything.

I don't think I could write Stannis/Selyse sex without either laughing or crying about it, but I did enjoy exploring their horrible marriage a bit more. It was actually during the last exchange, because my giftee wanted some early Stannis/Selyse. I think the sign-ups are almost what I love most about exchanges, seeing all those ideas people come up with.

Thankyou for the encouragement! I'm seriously considering it. Yay for unloved characters, so much. I quite like to read about the more popular ones but just can't get to grips with writing fic about them, somehow.

Argh busy seasonal shiz, I'm the same way. I thought I was going to have a lot more of this posted by now but as it is part three is up, and I have some lovely free time tomorrow to fully concentrate on it.

Those popular characters just intimidate me. So much canon to absorb and so many other fics about them! The thought of writing, for example, Tyrion, terrifies me.

Yep, I think that's exactly it with me too, the fact you can't work around their cannonical appearances so easily and have to kind of try not to repeat themes that are already around in fic.
