Comment fic meme

Some members liked the idea of having a kink meme/comment fic meme on got_exchange, especially since the other ASOIAF/GoT kink memes are fairly dead at the moment. (It's only posted on the mod account journal because I don't want anonymous comments on the exchange comm.)

A couple of rules before we start:

Hope this works; it's not super-touchy-feely, just very mildly slashy, but then again, this is Tywin Lannister ( ... )

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get around to reading this any earlier. But I absolutely adore it, thank you so much for writing it. I love how much it unsettles Kevan to see Tywin like that, and how understandably useless he feels. And broken, grieving Tywin is heartbreaking. Gnaaaah, these two are so wonderful together, I can't believe nobody ever writes about them. Thank you so much for filling that void in my life. ;)

It's OK! LJ died!

I am so glad that it worked. I am determined to use this meme to force myself to write Tywin again! I can't believe that there's not more either. There is some really good Lannister gen fic out there, but very little of it.

I had IRL stuff to do, and whenever I was online LJ was dead. Horrible timing.

Tywin is such a wonderful character, and I'm really intrigued by this quiet, trusting relationship he has with Kevan. They just understand each other, and I'm sure in a way they're just there for each other. I like seeing characters like Tywin around the people they love. So ... I'm looking forward to more Tywin fic. ^^

He really is. He's one of the more nuanced, deeper characters in the books, and I so prefer that older generation of Lannisters to the young ones (who I really don't care about at all, tbh). I always saw him as the "real father" to Kevan and Genna, etc.

I'll have to write more at some point.

Same here. I find Jaime incredibly overrated (even after AFFC), Cersei is hilarious but that's about it, and I will never forgive Tyrion for not just dying at the end of ASOS. ;) But mostly I just don't care about them. But Tywin ... Tywin is someone I can relate to, someone whose motivations and principles I can understand, even though I'm nothing like him. Tywin is just someone I can respect.
He definitely was more of a father to his siblings, yes, although I do think he also had a very brotherly relationship with Kevan. They just worked so well together, they relied on each other, and I have a thing for co-dependent brother relationships. ^^

Yay! :D

I never really liked Jaime or Cersei all that much (no character hate; I was just neutral there), and did enjoy Tyrion's arc until the end of ASOS. I always, for some reason, had a soft spot, odd as it sounds, for Tywin. I just like hard/cruel men who have secret decent sides (or not).

Yep, I agree completely. I never cared much about any of the three young Lannister siblings. Jaime bored me, Cersei and Tyrion were at least entertaining in places, but I wouldn't shed a tear for any of them. And there's nothing like hard men with more or less decent sides. I just find it fascinating to see characters who generally don't seem to give a damn about anyone else and are completely ruthless, and then you see them interacting with their wives/siblings/children/best friends/whoever else they love and they're downright sweet.

Yeah, that's why I write a lot of the Bolton fluff. I find it kind of hilarious, actually, to see the more domestic sides of cruel/intimidating characters.

That's what's missing w/the younger Lannisters too - that mystique kind of thing is missing. Tyrion has potential for that, but Cersei is utterly transparent and Jaime is just too conflicted.

It is very amusing. Nobody can run around flaying people and burning cities all day. You have to keep busy somehow.

I always found Tyrion the most transparent of them all, maybe because he was a POV character from the start. It was always obvious why he's fucked up. He managed to make up for it with lots of snark, but at some point you still realise that there isn't really anything extraordinary to his character.

Exactly - it's kind of unrealistic, really. Only comic book-type supervillains can get away with that. You have to have a life!

True re. Tyrion - I meant for the other characters. Seems like they all see his smartass side and don't know his PAIN/ANGST stuff until the whole "Where do whores go" business. Like poor Penny and Griff, etc.

Also, unless your Ramsay, most people probably don't -want- to be evil and villainous all the time. I mean, really, when you come home after a long day, would you rather have a nice cup of tea with your BFF or spend hours in the dungeon flaying someone?

Ah, okay. Somehow Tyrion's pain and angst do nothing for me, though. I'm really amazed by how much my opinions on certain characters has changed throughout the books, that rarely happens to me.

Ramsay is the only one who would find 24/7 flaying relaxing, I think. That's why you marry a Walda Frey type, because then you get to snuggle with your absurdly out of place, yet cute little wife instead of continuing the evil.
