Portland Peace March, part II

Sounds like it was quite the experience. I'm feeling kind of lame for not going, although the St. Paddy's parade was a lot of fun.

Glad to see you made your bus and are indeed back in Eugene. I hope Iggy forgave you guys for leaving him.

Actually, we did miss our bus --- it was just pulling away as we got into the station. But fortunately we met up with qousqous and he showed us an excellent all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet so we had a great dinner and took the 5:40 bus into Eugene instead. It wasn't an express, so we didn't get in until 9 something, but Iggy was glad to see us and we played with him and he purred and purred and slept on the bed. So yay!

I heard that the cops say there were about 15,000 people there and the organizers say that they expected 40,000 people and got more. Go figure.

The cops always undercount these things, the organizers always overcount. The media take some kind of average of those estimates, I guess, so that's the numbers I posted. The New York Times in particular has gotten a lot of crap for poor coverage of anti-war activities and has lately been trying to improve its act. Also I tried to post a big wide range to show that there's lots of variation in how these kinds of things get reported. Yeah.
