The LocoMotive is closing its doors at the end of this year! It makes me want to cry! I wonder if I can afford to eat there every week from now until they close... and hot damn am I ever making some reservations to eat there when Peter's parents visit in December. Shit!

shit! That almost makes me want to cry...

(hi - you probably don't know me, but we have a lot of mutual friends. I grew up in Eugene myself, and am a senior at Mudd now. The name is Zajj. I hope you don't mind that I read - you tend to have interesting/pertinent things to say)

It brought me close to tears, it did. And no, I don't mind that you read, or I'd make all my posts friends-only. Perhaps we'll meet someday, and in the meantime good luck with that senior year thing --- mine was a doozy, to put it mildly.

If you find yourself visiting Eugene between now and the end of the year, goteam and I would happily go to The Locomotive with you.

As a matter of fact, we would happily go to the locomotive with anyone who might potentially be reading this. And many who are not.

you guys gotta promise that if a new restaurant opens up that's good, you don't ignore it. Last Fri. someone asked, "Is there a veg. rest. in abq?" "No" I mournfully replied at the same time someone else was saying, "Oh yeah! There's Anapurna, and Fei's Cafe..." and then I realized that even though they've been open more than a year, I'm still so sad that Adam's Table (which was yummy vegan and local organic fare) turned into Raging Shrimp, that I keep forgeting other places have opened up. *lopsided grin*

We never ignored the LocoMotive! goteam November 16 2004, 22:35:36 UTC
We just couldn't afford to eat there as often as we might have liked, that's all. But I don't think the LocoMotive is closing for lack of support; they've been around for nine years, and the restaurant is the owners's retirement project, both of which suggest that money isn't the crucial factor so much as perhaps the owners getting ready to retire for reals (perhaps to another country, since the owners strike me as citizens of the world in the best sense). Still, I hope to offer them my services in getting a LocoMotive cookbook written and published; I can write, I can edit, and I would dearly love to test recipes and help adapt them to not-restaurant scale, oh yes indeedy!
