Where, if anywhere, am I supposed to attach the 1099-MISC? I've got everything else filled out: the forms for profit or loss from a business, self-employment tax, and the fuckin' 1040 itself, which I swear gets more hateful every time I look its way, and I can't find any instructions pertaining to whether I even have to enclose the 1099-MISC, let ( Read more... )

I don't believe you have to send in your 1099-MISC; whoever sent it to you needs to file it, however. (Of course, I e-filed my taxes, so I didn't have to mail one bit of paper.)

I don't even remember what I ended up doing, but I put it all in the mail last week. If the IRS wants to freak out about the paltry sums of money involved, then so be it. But I doubt the taxes I paid this year would cover the labor cost of giving me more trouble than a letter saying "hey, you forgot to enclose X useless bit of paper".
