What was supposed to be an easy favor and a fun little jaunt had ended on a pretty low note. To put it mildly ( Read more... )

Had Justine asked her to fly out to her, she would have without a second thought. What had happened was horrible, even if she only knew bits and pieces of what had actually happened. Someone had been kidnapped, and someone was gone. Someone Justine was friends with, or at least an acquaintance, but still someone she valued enough to visit, and be slightly distraught over them being gone. Gabriella had almost suggested it, too, that she could come out there, so she would have someone to be with while staying there and waiting for news, but when there was nothing that could be done, phone calls could come through whether she, they were in New York, or Tokyo ( ... )

Disembarking from the plane and heading down the stairs toward the ground, Justine mostly focused on her feet, off in her own broody little world.

She almost felt the same way she did back in the days immediately following the fallout with Stark and Vanko, when it seemed like everything was going wrong and there was no way to stop it. Back then Justin Hammer had become a very grim figure indeed - no stopping to smile for the cameras, just striding into the limo, head down and dark sunglasses obscuring his face.

Of course, there was no paparazzi here. This was private airfield. It was just her, the plane crew, and...

Gabriella?

She caught a glimpse of a figure in a plastic raincoat out of the corner of her eye and lifted her head quickly, surprised.

For a moment she just stopped in her tracks, still on the steps leading down from the plane. She eyed Gabriella's face warily from the distance. Trying to get a read on her mood.

Gabriella smiled when she saw the plane coming in, and was then yelled at by the crew to move, and of course did as told. She watched safely as it came in, as the stairs were rolled up, and as the figures walked down them, though as they did, she was conflicted as to what to do.

On one side, she was still a bit upset with her. It was stupid, really, but she couldn't help it. She had too many emotions, and she knew it. She wanted to wait for an apology. For her to come to her, but even though they hadn't known each other all that long, it was pretty obvious that when it came to those types of situations, and it wasn't likely that she would.

Therefore, she went for the other side, and after she waved at her, the finger wave, she set the box, and her purse down on the ground, and walked briskly - a bit of a run near the end to her, and just threw her arms around her neck.

"I missed you so much."

The finger wave was definitely a sign of encouragement. And when Gabriella started to run, well, it was pretty obvious that things weren't quite so dire between them after all ( ... )
