Tokyo - yikes! You seem very confident, and I know you have a good head on your shoulder (can sense right from wrong, and smell trouble when you are in its midst!) - so I say go for it! (what do your parents say?). Seems like if you stay on the beaten path, and not wander off into the dark corners of the city, you'd be okay. Do your homework, and find out exactly where you are going, so you don't have to look like a hopeless tourist in need of some evil assistance (I do believe that most people are good, though). Let your gut instincts guide you (if you go) as to what is right or wrong.
Can you post a notice at a bulletin board at school to see if anyone else wants to go? Even if its not another American - that would be okay.
You could stay in one of those hotels that puts you in a little bunk in the wall! Know what I mean?
Anyway - onward! Good luck with your classes. Keep up the adventures! Love ya, Lorri
