I.U.D.

A few months back I tried to make this post about my experience with my I.U.D. but it got deleted when I went to do some editing. Tonight, as I'm sitting awake at 3:46 a.m. with a mixture of gas, extreme bloating, and severe period cramps, I'm feeling moved to give it another shot. For the record, the gas is most likely my fault, and has nothing to ( Read more... )

Please post your rewrite of the pamphlet as soon as it's done- I don't have an IUD, but 8 out of 10 of my ladies who have one have described similar tales of woe- horrible pain while getting it, raging periods for months afterwards. I feel like the rising popularity of IUDs must in part be responsible for the end of Veruca Salt's 18 year hiatus, so much rage in these periods!!

I know this solves almost no problems, but I feel you on expen$ive pregnancy tests- there exist dollar pregnancy tests, Amazon has a ton of them, like 50 tests for $20. It's cheap because there's no plastic shield so you might get pee on your hands, but just invest in a stack of dixie cups and you can enjoy a pregnancy test every day of the week! Frugality!

oh god, tell me about it! when they say that it can take UP TO 6-12 months for the IUD to "regulate" they aren't fucking kidding. i've had mine now 7 months and i only NOW, within the last 2 periods, feel like my body is actually really starting to understand itself. the first day i got it i was bleeding like the octomom if she miscarried. i soaked my entire bed. now i have very, very insanely sharp cramps pre-period and sometimes during. it hurts so bad, and like the whole bowel thing, i cannot take a shit. if i have the slightest bit of gas in my guts the pain returns. like, i can't push anything out or i'll die. also, your vaginal fluids kinda smell like copper a bit with this thing, no?

thanks for sharing :)

Yes, definitely! I was just telling someone about this the other day. It smells extra coppery before I get my period. Of course I was like "Fuck, it's probably because it became dislodged and is now on its way to stab through my bowel" but cool, I know this is just a thing that happens.

I actually know someone whose IUD did end up puncturing her bowel, probably because she had it inserted by med students on the cheap, a fantastic idea. She knew something was wrong because she had black discharge (!), plus her "vagina smelled like a dead horse" (?). So I think we are okay.

I hope this situation gets better for both of us sometime soon. It actually sounds kinda worse for you, especially about the pooping, yikes! I know plenty of ladies who have had them for a while now and really love the thing now.
