Ask Teal Stupid Tourist Questions about Wash. DC for Gotterdammerung

HELLO GDS

SO. Up and coming is Gotterdammerung, which coincidentailly takes place not only in my home town, near my place of work. Which, if you didn't know, is here. Indeed, part of my job is to tell people that no, I don't know how to get to the Holocaust museum, or where the bars are, and I'm very sorry but it's not my fault that the ATM isn't ( Read more... )

I LOVE YOU TEAL, this is a fantastic idea!!

Ummm if a Jedi and a big dude with horns were to fight, and he's got crap tons of fire to dish out and eyelasers and stuff, what would be a good place to fight?

I LOVE YOU TOO, JILL. :D

You're in luck - pretty much the ENTIRE MALL is wide open greenspace. I'd say the ideal location would be near the Washington Monument - there's not a lot of trees right near there, and it's pretty iconic looking.

Also, I'd like to note that Google Maps does an amazing street view of all kinds of places on the mall. maybe this link will work?

Oh my this may be fun fighting in all this open space.

I hope Galen likes one-man raids. 8D

How many people can we expect there to be about at 11 PM in April? Are we talking screaming crowds or a mostly-deserted park?

That is dependent entirely on if there's an event going on. If we assume that there isn't (I don't think there's anything particularly big going on), you can expect the place to be near deserted save for the omnipresent security guards and maybe some very brave people strolling about / drunks.

This is because the last Metro trains stop running at midnight during the week, and 1:00 am on weekends, so it's kind of stupid to be out on the Mall that late.

TL;DR - mostly deserted. As an aside, the Mall is FAR safer than, say, Central Park. It's patrolled regularly by the national park service, surrounded by museums, and there's very few places to hide.

Excellent. I feel so very sorry for the guards.

They'll probably try to do their job at first, and then turn tail and run.
