So hi CnC I've been sick lately and so today I totally just binged on Soon I Will Be Invincible. I heard about this book from my senior seminar advisor who apparently is teaching the author over at UC Berkley where she is now and afsjdlfjdljf

I love how it manages to be this affectionate deconstruction of the superhero genre instead of being GRRRR GRIMDARK like so many other deconstructions- actually, I think of it like the Hot Fuzz of superhero stories. I put like half the cast on the requested characters list like back in April or something and I still can't believe a canon like that hasn't been played here yet. So yes, rectifying that would be great.

Came this close to apping Dr. Impossible with Jonathan Frakes or somebody as a pb orz

Heee! And yes, it's... it's not precisely HAPPY FLUFFY, it is very much like Hot Fuzz in that it's still dark, but in a very tongue in cheek way. I think really it's more like Dr. Horrible or Mystery Men than, say, Watchmen.

In fact, Dr. Impossible I think is who Dr. Horrible will be when he grows up a bit. XD

Also you know what's terrifying is about up until my last year of high school, I was Dr. Impossible, except I didn't actually manage to get into the magnet science program and instead went to normal public high school and failed utterly to get into the Ivy League.

So basically I might have been a laser toting supervillain but alas, instead I am a literature analyzing supervillain which isn't particularly super at all.

AAAAAAAAAAAA Dr. Impossible would have been lovely lovely &hearts I WOULD BE THE FATALITY TO YOUR IMPOSSIBLE except I know how hard it is to play two villains D:

In a way, the story's a sort of reconstruction in that despite the pointed-out absurdities of the genre, everything turns out all right in the end. Really, I should have yakked about it on gds long before now; I really think its story and its characters are a lot like C&C's, in terms of theme and tone.

But yeah, I think I made the right decision in not apping Jonathan, since like you said playing a Nazi is enough evil for anyone and Impossible is basically Dr. Horrible FROM THE FUTURE, which renders him somewhat redundant.

...I want to say I doubt the supervillain thing but after that SoTG video I can totally buy it.
