On the subject of finding a job... Craigslist actually works pretty well for fashion jobs, at least. Other than that, I suggest hanging out at/around your school or with old teachers. Granted, I'm an obnoxious teacher's pet, but my old teachers are always pointing me in the direction of work. Does your school have any kind of professional services/career center? A lot of school extend that stuff to alums too, so yeah. Check it out.
Ummm... Also, don't resist taking on work for free if you think it'll lead to better paid stuff later. Worst case scenario, you can use it for your portfolio/resume and who knows, the connection could lead to a great job a few months down the road.
