I'm one of the owners of secretorigins, if anyone is interested in dicking around there?
Everything that annoys me about (comics/DC) dressing rooms is pretty much defined by DCUSWS. UH not that I'm an elitest or whatever. I mean, people can do whatever they want. Fine with me. I just... don't... want to be called a bitch for not tagging you all day, every day. :(
The main problem for me is the "SWS" part. It... just does not encourage quality writing. The original Hemingway six word story is amazing, of course, but nobody puts any thought into the construction of their opening post instead, they play to the limitation like it's a good thing.
Lmfao, we only put in applications because we are terrible people and want to pick and choose who we play with. And where. I like the option of having the whole DCU to mess around with. I think there's a dead Gotham one somewhere, too? (And isn't that one yours?)
Yeah, I agree. I like the option to play however I damn well please at the time, though admittedly I am becoming more and more lazy these days. Sadly, I think the idea of not having to do much is the reason most people stick to DCUSWS. It's fine if you aren't feeling too inspired for the moment, but there's only so much you can convey in six words or in action tags.
Yes, it is. :( I figure the Gotham setting is way too specific, though, and not everybody, uh, loves it like I do.
I'd like to strike a compromise between the times when you're not feeling all that inspired (like, typing up a log might be a bit much!) versus the kind of half-assed "hilarity" that ends up clogging up that comm.
Believe me, I totally understand the desire for a little exclusivity (hello, xanadoodle!). I'd just actually like to try my hand at running a general comm for once. I can repress my carpe jugulum instincts if I try... and I think it's important for me to try.
FHajfhdajkf I LOVE... how this is the universal reaction. LIKE I'M SORRY, PEOPLE WHO RP THERE, I DON'T MEAN TO DOGPILE THE HATE, but I'm just sayin', there are some problems...
ROFL ROFL. IT'S JUST THE SUICIDE POST THAT THREW ME OFF. I didn't click it, but Kyle puked in my head. I HAD THE PERFECT REACTION FOR THAT TOO, I WISH I COULD COMMENT. But yeah, the few times I've been there, I've been like ...?!!? I MEAN, to each their own! RP is about fun, and the dressing room is more like a sandbox!
EXACTLY, YEAH. If they are having fun, good! I'm just still going to make fun of them, because I'm terrible. >_>
VERY POSSIBLY. Some suggestions my friends have (not entirely seriously) thrown at me: thelazaruspit, MMMMOORRISONNN (or some variant thereof), um... well, we have an inside joke that whenever something happens in canon that is horrible, the characters leave the DC universe by boarding the SS Pina Colada, so maybe there's. Something to be done with that, I DON'T KNOW. Also, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT INFINITE CRISIS.
*shudders reflexively at the mention of dc6wordstories*
I'm no help with a name but I'd certainly support a new dressing room. I've got a couple DC Muses aside from Houston I might wanna bring over. And if they were allowed (which I would love if they were) I've got a DC-based OC or two that'd be cool to be able to bring by somewhere. A general DC universe setting would be awesome...maybe not something jamjary though.
Glad I'm not the only one. Cities/weird buildings/creepy little towns are nice and all but there's tons of cities and outerspace out there to have fun in!
HOW DO I SHOT CHARACTERIZATION? Oh, I'll just do whatever I want and call it an AU and take it super seriously even if I justify its existence by calling it crack, lol.
I swear when I went there I was like "I'm going to ask about everyones relationships and see how many characters respond just so their RPers can talk about their relationships for 20 minutes through their character"
There are some actually nice and funny people there, and good people! But uh overall it's a mess with lots of redundancy, lack of creativity and uhm...sausagefest
