What does your character actually look like? Are the dudes and ladies in their icons what they'd look like ICly to another character encountering them in the game, or are there differences from canon or their time in-game--are they missing an eye now, have they been turned ( Read more... )

The icons I use of Carly are from actual canon. As for what she'd look like in a real life kind of setting...? Let me get back to you on that. Otherwise she looks like how she looks here. ...Maybe less hair fail (that's why I like fanart!)

And HIM's PB icon looks pretty much dead on with the exception of tattoos.

But canon-wise? HIM never changes (nor does anyone else in Townsville over the decade but still) so I can pull him from any canon point and it's all good~

Scathach and Gemma look just like their PBs because... they're PBs. Rikku would be hard to find a PB for, but her eyes irl would look like this. There's nothing outstanding about Nill lmao.

I prefer to use canon icons if they're available, just because it helps me think about what they'd actually look like. I AM UNCREATIVE.

Terry looks a little older than he does in the majority of his icons, just because he's 19 now as opposed to the 16 he was when he got this character design. Which... didn't change and grow older as the show went on SO YEAH. The comic art is a bit more accurate, which is one of the reasons I have those icons now.

But yeah other'n that....

Oh, gosh.

I would say that a good amount of Harley's costumed icons are from her canon point but almost all of her non-costumed icons are from much later in her canon because we very rarely got to see her in street clothes before Gotham City Sirens. I also use icons made from the animated universe and other appearances outside the mainstream DCU because I can. Luuuuuckily, her style doesn't change too much (unless she purposely goes out of her way) so it's all good.

I do have a PB for her too, for the heck of it. I started noticing some similarities between Harley and January Jones and eventually settled on her after a ridiculously embarassing amount of over-thinking and comparision. If you ever doubt my insanity, see this. Generally, I just find that January's face matches well enough with a variety of the art used over the years (and even some of my favorite fanart) but I also like that I can find images of her in pigtails or wearing glasses with her hair pulled back or looking similar to "Holly Chance" or wearing red and black ( ... )
