You had to know this was going to demand my attention.
I'm betting anything that cairo wasn't merged with the X USE flag. I *always* do that. Simple fix: run "appear ---use -1 cairo pango" and make sure to select the X USE flag. (I think I put appear on your system. If I didn't, then tell me, and I'll tell you what to poke into your /etc/portage/package.use)
For enlightenment (intended), check your /var/db/pkg/*/enlightenment*/CONTENTS. That'll tell you where gentoo hid the thing.
Also, careful with that man trick -- that's something less has grown into. It used to be that man pages were piped through at least two formatting programs before they hit 'human readable'.
somehow i figured you'd tag in on a replygorthokJanuary 6 2009, 02:17:04 UTC
you know it's probably got something to do with the use flag. and damnit i'd planned on trying that fucking suggestion by now, but. well, i figured out that i had a gentoo 2008 minimal cd and i've been draging the intel 2.4 ghz [dubbed skelletor] legnth and bredth through the damn install process again, and since it's using the screen that the other box was on and my kvm is toasted, i'm suck for a while. i swear, however, i'm acutally understanding nearly 70% of it this time around. that 2007 fucking thing was having me update shit too much and it was a pain in the fucking @$$ to manage.
also, i think i've run into a few of those files that you're talking about that don't play well with 'less'. it's still pretty badass, i'm tired of using nano on everything and 9/10ths of the files i'm working with are too big to cat.
