Does poetry-writing run in the family?

It does sound like his poetry, doesn't it?

Perhaps you could go through his poetry and check to see if that one is there? If it isn't, then we can be sure that the book with this poem in it has been stolen.

[sounds of someone rummaging around a bit, and pages flipping]
I don't see that one in here. Perhaps someone else is just as bad?

I doubt that. I suppose we will have to hunt down the thief, which could be difficult on a ship full of pirates.
Do you happen to know of anyone on this ship who is a real poetry-lover?

Maybe we should make a game--try and answer what's in the crane, with more bad lines!

But, this! This is a great idea. Do you have your own reply for this one?

Hmm...
"Maybe instead of talking to stars
Instead I will
Talk to my sake cup. That will show you."
Intentionally bad poetry is kind of hard to do...

Ah, let me see.
"But a sake cup cannot compare to my love
Or maybe it does.
Will chocolate win you over?"
Yes. I'm not sure how Hijikata does it.
