"Every night I talk to the stars pretending it's you;
It acts just like you though,
Far away and never replies to my questions."

I think someone found your poetry book and started copying lines onto these cranes, Hijikata.

i have so many friends wow, not being annoying i swear, hijikata needs love too

Ah, the other Hijikata.

Does poetry-writing run in the family?

No, it doesn't. Fortunately.

Are you not a man for poetry? Or perhaps just not for Toshizou's poetry?

[cue gales of laughter here]

It does sound like his poetry, doesn't it?

It certainly does.

Perhaps you could go through his poetry and check to see if that one is there? If it isn't, then we can be sure that the book with this poem in it has been stolen.

I suppose I could...

[sounds of someone rummaging around a bit, and pages flipping]

I don't see that one in here. Perhaps someone else is just as bad?

Hm...

I doubt that. I suppose we will have to hunt down the thief, which could be difficult on a ship full of pirates.

Do you happen to know of anyone on this ship who is a real poetry-lover?

...what a horrible poem.

Be careful, sir. If the man who wrote that heard you saying this, he would fly into a murderous rage.

He's a frightening man when he's angry. I heard that he once took out an entire Ivonian army troop.

If such a buffoon considers this trash to be poetry, then he is not a man to be feared no matter how mighty he is supposedly is!

I'll be sure to pass on that message, then!

And who shall I say the message is from?

...Gorobei. For some reason, I do not think Hijikata is going to be fond of you publicly posting his poetry for all to see.

Not to worry, Kambei. He's done it himself before, so one more poem released on the network isn't going to kill him.

It might even help us find the culprits who stole his poetry book.

It's bad enough to be his at least!

Maybe we should make a game--try and answer what's in the crane, with more bad lines!

I have no idea what you could possibly mean, Anko. Hijikata's poetry is... [ Mumble, mutter. ]

But, this! This is a great idea. Do you have your own reply for this one?

Yuuuuh-huh. I've just got the balls to say as much, Gorobei~

Hmm...

"Maybe instead of talking to stars
Instead I will
Talk to my sake cup. That will show you."

Intentionally bad poetry is kind of hard to do...

If you say so, Anko.

Ah, let me see.

"But a sake cup cannot compare to my love
Or maybe it does.
Will chocolate win you over?"

Yes. I'm not sure how Hijikata does it.
