Catalan speakers have our own internet domain, called ".cat", which, believe, could be used for pet-food companies (but they haven't) -

It's increased in academic environments and in legal stuff. On the streets, it's lower and lower every day. The immigration pressure is quite strong.

i guess it is not exactly like you say. from my point of view, there are some missing points:
- anyone who can speak catalan is expected to speak spanish as well, but the opossite does not hold.
- many spanish people cannot speak english, so they just cannot switch to english if needed
- most of *not* native catalan speakers dont have this "switching" language capability that you have, so it is not so natural for us to do so.

* about catalan extinction. ok, i think catalan would not survive by means of native and natural speakers much longer. but i think that the artificial support given by the generalitat is really effective and is making (has made) the language be in good balance.

Bueno, lo de cambiar el idioma es que a mí me irrita porque denota que una lengua está en inferioridad con la otra. Siempre se usa el tema de la "educación"... Eso no se da entre otros idiomas.

En cuanto a la extinción, de nada sirve mejorar el status legal si no se mejora su uso. Eso sí, ¿cómo hacerlo? Ni idea. Creo que cualquier campaña es contraproducente.
