What I find useful is to write memos to myself. I email them to myself, because my email program (Eudora) has some pretty amazing search capabilities, stores its data in a relatively open format, and has all of my email going back to 1997. Do you trust LiveJournal more than you trust your own computer?

Well as there is essentially 0% chance of a LJ message ever being lost as opposed to the rather larger chance of a computer's harddrive failing, particularly if it is a laptop, it seems reasonable.
