Part of the fun of a Comic Con is gone when you have to travel (in the middle of February) to a desolate, empty area of Manhattan to a convention center that was sharing space with a travel show.
What makes San Diego so much fun-- besides the obvious-- is that the whole town seems to be in Comic Con mode all week. It feels less like a convention, and more like a party/geektastic vacation. Plus, as you said, if you need a break, you can grab lunch at Seaport Village or sneak off to the beach for a few hours, or something else. At NYCC, your options are to either stay or go home, unless you want to walk all the way to midtown and back.
Basically, it's nice to have a local Con, but it's not a show I would go to if it weren't in the immediate area. That's from a fanboy's perspective... not a professional.

And Freeman allows this?!?!?
Mind you, better than their insane rates per table/chair/you name it, but I thought they busted you if you brought anything in from the outside.

I didn't know about the chair thing.
Most I have ever stood behind the table.
But it was worth it to see New York for the first time.
HOPEFULLY I'll get to do Mocca and see it again!
